Exchange Rate Benidorm Market.......

Postby john hannon » Tue Oct 27, 2009 7:39 pm

.......in the market in Benidorm today the exchange rate in all the kiosks was E1.085 to £1.00

The BBC are showing the tourist rate as E1.0646

Tescos currently showing E1.065, Thomas Cook E1.063, Travelx E1.065, Post Office £1.064.

I know back in the UK I normally get about 2 % more than the agents are advertising for the sake of 20 minutes shopping around to see whats beeing offered and then asking for a better rate........I wonder if you could drive an even better deal in Benidorm Market? I would add that I would not drive all the way there to buy my Euros.

Has anyone looked locally at the rate compared to that in the UK? Is a better deal to be had buying your Euros here than in the UK?

Looking forward to your comments.

Regards all

John

On principle I would never exchange at markets, Indian/Chinese shops, etc., where you will often be offered enhance rates. So for me, I am prepared to pay the extra and use a legit broker. Same as I would not buy off the back of a lorry.

Sorry but if some Chinese man in a shop either in Benidorm or Gran Alacant was offering a few cents more... you'd have to be more than an IDIOT not to take them up on it. Wouldn't you?

Regards,

Mark.

I am talking about exchange kiosks, the sort of things you see in all major citys, I see no difference to them being located in a market hall to being located in a prime High St location.

Perhaps the low overheads is what allows them to give such good rates, there seemed no shortage of business for them today.

Anyway back to the original question, can you get a better rate locally than you can in the UK?

OK, so I am an idiot. Have you ever questioned how they can do it? Have you ever questioned why they need to do it? Have you ever thought where the money has come from?
If not, (generalising) how that if you have children they don't get caught up in it.
Suppose you also consider someone an idiot if they don't buy off the back of a lorry when it is a few cents cheaper?

So you are talking of registered and authorised money exchanges?
Just because they were doing good business doesn't necessarily mean they are legal.
Do you believe the lucky, lucky men can sell goods cheap because of low overheads, or is there another reason?
