Freesat From SKY Cards - Stopping Working Soon

Postby Freesat Tv Costa Blanca » Mon Aug 24, 2009 3:14 pm

Hello all,

If you did not purchase your Freesat From SKY Card direct from SKY it will be switched off in the next 4 - 6 weeks and you will need to ask someone with a UK address to order you a NEW one:

To order a NEW Card ring SKY from the UK & tell them you have equipment installed and just need the card:

I already have Sky digital satellite equipment - what else do I need?
A: All you need to gain access to the free channels available on the digital satellite platform is a Freesat from Sky viewing card, which costs just £20. If you’d like to access the interactive services available, you’ll also need a working phone line. To purchase a viewing card please phone Sky on 08448 244 400.

* VERY IMPORTANT - THESE CARDS ARE ONLY FOR USE IN THE UK SO YOU MUST ONLY ORDER FOR A UK ADDRESS *

IMPORTANT

If you are currently using a Freesat Card in anything else other than an official SKY receiver it looks like they will not work anymore as from the 1st of October to try and stop the cardsharing networks.

What does this mean ?

Well if you have a Darkbox, Big Sat, Metabox or any other NON SKY receiver you will not be able to watch Five, Fiver, Five USA, SKY 3 & the Stronger ITV1 / CH4 after this date even with the NEW white SKY Card.

What is the solution ?

Buy an official SKY HD or Standard Receiver.

sky freeview card.

Postby Markr1506 » Wed Sep 16, 2009 5:16 pm

Hi Freesat, I've ordered a card from Sky and expecting it to arrive to my nieces house in a few days, she'll then post it on to me here.

Now they said it won't work in Spain, but fairly sure they can't control that.  They also say we have to call to activate it.  When you got me the last one I just put it in and it activated overnight.  Is that not the case with the new ones?

What number do you have to enter in the phone to stop the number showing?

All the best,

Mark.

Number to call

Postby Freesat Tv Costa Blanca » Wed Sep 16, 2009 5:43 pm

You are better doing it by SKYPE if possible or even better when you get it put it in the box go to services, system set up, system details write all the information down and give it to your niece and ask her to call and pretend shes infront of the box.

You can also withhold your number from a T/F landline by putting 067 infront of the number you call but some UK numbers do not like it and will not connect......

Remember they will ask for her details when someone calls as it was ordered at her address.

SKY Freeview cards.

Postby Markr1506 » Tue Sep 29, 2009 6:04 pm

Hi Freesat,
I recieved the card today from my niece in the UK. I did as you suggested and called SKY using SKYPE, they activated the card after a few problems and said it could take between 2 hours and 24 hours.  After a few minutes the menus changed and I could again see ch 5 and Fiver and the rest of them. The problem is I select ch 5 and it says "no saterlite signal being receieved". Do you think this will come back, or have we lost it for good?  We always had it with the old card that you supplied for me.

Regards,

Mark.
