Do you use Picasa to process the images on your PC?

I was looking for some Open Source Software other than the Gimp for image manipulation on my Ubuntu Linux system and wondered whether it would be suitable.

I know Google are now the developers of Picasa so I suppose it is proprietary but at least the software is free if not OSS.
