...tried a little HDR in PhotoShop CS4 but I'm not getting the control needed for the results I'm after.

Seems like Photomatix is the way to go (it's available for Mac & PC)

One of the reasons I purchased a digital SLR camera is HDR.

I hope to be doing a lot of it in due course.

Though I did not use CS3 merge to HDR function I did use CS3 to do make the lighting correct.

Just in case no one had noticed there is a discount code for Photomatix HDR software

Enter this...

...into the discount field and get the software for £64.48 instead of £75.85

Had a little play with it and it works a lot better than Pshop CS4
