Old Hotel in Arenales

Postby Paul Garner » Fri Nov 06, 2009 12:39 pm

Was told last night by a couple of customers that a sign has been put up on the hotel, which could indicate something is going to happen with it. Not had time to have a look. Has anyone seen it or know anything?

Its a real eyesore and something should be done,

When we were there 10 days ago we obsevered yourngsters running around inside the place. It must be really unsafe by now.

I guess its the old story fo who is going to pay for it to be torn down . . . . .

I saw some old photos of the place once - in its heyday it was a nice looking place - but full of intigue and mystery as to why it closed.

If and when it does come down it will open up that nice socail square where Meeting Point / Shebas bar etc is quite nicely

I heard that an Alicante restaurateur has bought it and will be turning it in to a tapas bar. :D

and if you then click on the link (below) from there to the website about it's creator,Tomas Dura, you will find a large gallery of photos on the page for the hotel showing internal/external and stages of construction.

Wouldn't it be wonderful, for the place to be restored rather than pulled down.

I agree, If you look at the old pictures it was in the middle of nowhere. Its no wonder it closed. You would have been restricted to the hotel and the beech, with nothing else to do. Wouldnt expect a bus service existed. However Arenales now has a decent selection of bars etc and with the bus links you could easyly get out and about. However becuase of the Lay de Costas its probably been clasified illegal
