Hi

Am thinking about buying a Sat Nav - any suggestions, comments, etc?

Thoughts leading to a Garmin 1310 - anyone any experience of this model?

I quite like the garmin sat navs, I used to be a big tomtom fan but last year got fed up with TT as products did not seem to be moving forward in size. (or lack off)

The TT screen seemed to not be that bright, I like the extra security feature of garmin and the much much better battery life of garmin, hours as opposed to minutes if not on power lead.

You features are a perhaps a bit more buried in the garmin than tt but every thing is there.

My only comment on this model, would you only need 1 country maps rather than all EU ?

Have tried a few models it seems to depend on what extra's you want with it i.e blue tooth etc

The Garmin range seem to fit most of my requirements

I second that comment and it was the very thing told to me when I bought my first sat nav. Basically, I found that Garmin & TT had little between them. I decided on Garmin and have stuck with them ever since. In fact, the Garmin Nuvi 250 I take with me when travelling overseas is now 3 years old and I just update the UK and European maps each year.
Regarding the use time when run off the battery, never tried, but, on one journey, after an hour or more travelling, it was only then I realised that I had not plugged the lead into the socket, but the Nuvi was still running fine.
Having said that, it would not worry me if I needed to purchase urgently and it was only TT available. All better than being without.

ITS A GARMIN 250 OR 255 CANT QUITE REMEMBER BUT ITS ABOUT £120 IN THE SHOPS IVE GOT EXCELLENT GOT IT OFF EBAY.

I'm still in roadmap/atlas mode. I can see the usefulness of a position fix when out in the countryside though. We've had some "interesting" excursions round some of the minor road system inland from Alicante. For finding a specific road in a large town they must be quite useful but for long distance routes they seem a bit superflous.
