Simulsat Performance

Postby Rich & Sue » Sun Nov 01, 2009 10:29 am

Anyone using Simulsat at the moment ?

Just did a re-scan and although it "finds" lots of channels only about 60 / 70% of them are viewable.

Does anyone have a list of what I should be able to recieve ?

Lot of "pixellation" on ITV1 and BBC1 this week - but I have not had my ariel looked at since the earlier storms

Hi Rich, as you only about 60% of channels listed are actualy working, not too concerned as those we want to watch are available.

The reception has been a lot better in recent weeks, in fact better than it has been for an age (or are we getting use to it????????), so it might be worth getting your set up looked at. It took them an age to resolve one neighbours problems........in the end they recabled the system and that resolved the issue........must have been a break in the coax cable.

In mid September Simulsat phoned us and quite correctly told us that we had to go to the office to give them our bank details to keep the contract going.........I did a deal a year ago with a one off payment for installation and a years viewing.

I asked about the "holiday makers package" and was told because of the amount of time we spend here (c.5 months a year) I had to sign up for the E15 a month 12 months a year deal.

I was relaying this story to a neighbour who tends to come for 2 weeks every other month, when he arrives he calls up to their office pays E20 and has channels restored a couple of hours later, never had a problem, allways worked correctly.

Armed with this information I went to their office and I now have the same deal............

Regards all

My 12 months "free" started in mid August so I will consider the shorter term option going forward from there.

I would like to get a list of what you are supposed to have off them though to make sure I am getting all the ones I should.

Does anyone get Sky News and BBC News ?

Just a word of warning - not that I need to give it to people who have previously re-scanned. . . . . .

..... the channel one down from BBC1 is (shall we say) a bit gross to watch as you serve breakfast to your wife and teenage daughter !

Make sure you are broadminded or are wearing a blindfold as you "block" that channel !

Hi Rich, Sky News Yes, BBC News Yes, so it sound like you have a problem.

Channels 1 through 4 are as you say not to everyones taste.........mine are blocked unless you enter a four didgit code on the handset.

One of the Simulsattv info channels shows these "adult" channels after midnight. I was reading the other night and Mrs H whilst channel hopping came across this, she asked me in a gobsmacked fashion at one scene "how do you do that?", I'm still wondering!!

Thanks John

I think I may be a little "off beam" - it (the dish) hasnt been touched since August and we are high up in Monte Y Mar and got a bit of a battering from the storms.

Having said that - when they - very quickly - installed my new box in the summer they left the old dish up from a previous installation and said it was "OK" but if I had a problem they would come back.

I am not convinced the dish and LNB are good enough and I should have insisted on them putting all new kit in
