Rich

When I was looking at digital cameras, I compared the duty free prices at Gatwick. Online almost always beats them on price.

I agree with Tony.

Though if buying from far east make sure the warranty is applicable in Europe.

A lot of companies will only cover kit if repaired in the territory it was sold in the first place.

Hi Rich,
no I wasn't going for that. And I agree with Robin, its the content not the kit that makes the pic.

I guess I just wanted to read of others experiences with their camera - point & click or top of the range (& out of financial reach) Leica, it's all academic.

I particularly like the nikon camera's I think the colours are excellent and vibrant.

Back in 2007 I changed my then current casio 10MP camera for a nikon 8mp camera.

Pictures were just so much more vibrant in my eyes on the nikon.

I have recently changed back to a digital slr.

I used to use a film slr quite a few years ago, but the hassle of the storage of photos became a problem (as well as cost in developing etc).

The downside is cost & size of a good SLR.

The new Lumix G1 seems like a really good all rounder.

Interchangeable lenses, tho' not many available at present and compact size are high on my list - difficult to achieve in a true dslr.

I like it's articulated LCD screen, and the unique pic preview that shows what effect a given shutter speed/aperture combo will have.

I understand the pic quality with the kit lens is also very impressive and comparable to the D90 with its supplied lens (I am happy to be corrected on this point).

Agreed Rich.

The Lumix was the best buy in the slightly more expensive price range - they come in nice colours as well.

Good camera and has  areally good zoom / lens quality for a compact

Hi all,

I've been getting deeper into photography the past two or three years & now into Nikon D80 & D50 DSLRs.

I also use a Lumix FZ30 & very pleased with its performance having used it for almost 3 years it gives you a lot of control  with  the equivelant zoom range of 35 - 420mm. The later models in this series are well worth considering as an intermediate type of camera.

You have taken some excellent Photos Graham.

Well done.

I did not relies they had finished the Vulcan & got her flying again, awesome  sight.

The last time I saw one was in St.Athens in Cardiff quite few years ago.

When she stood on her tail and went vertical the ground shook !!!!

Unbelievable sight and noise.

Bring back the Vulcan I say.

She's a frightening sight (for the enemy) - probably be enough with a low level pass and no bombing run!

Love the pics Graham (welcome to the forum too!)

I hope to get the time to post some of my own in the near future.
