Christmas Eve in Alicante....

Postby Markr1506 » Wed Nov 04, 2009 12:40 pm

Hi Folks, a friend of mine has an apartment in the city and is coming over for Christmas this year. He's asked the question "Is there anything happening on Christmas eve in the city"? I don't think much goes on either Christmas Eve or Christmas day eve! does anyone know any different?

Regards,

Mark.

Like the rest of Spain, Christmas eve is a family occasion so most bars and restaurants are either closed or close by 10.00
OK you will find the odd one or two open, but judge for yourself if they are worth going to.

New years eve generally is quite good in alicante, fireworks in town square (at midnight) and most spanish are then just going out for a meal.

It seems to be no different from any other day in Spain.. we did try once going out to a Spanish restuarant for Christmas, but only Paella, so if you want the turkey with all the trimmings, reserve where you can, otherwise, I'm sure the bars in Alicante will still be open, or, you could always open a few bottles at your place, never fails to please

My experience is that not that many bars are open on Christmas Eve.
Obviously Hotel restaurants will be open and only yesterday I noticed an advert of the Tryp Hotel for Christmas and New Year.

Thanks all, as I thought myself nothing happens Christmas eve. This friend of mine has just bought an apartment in the city and he asked me if it was worth staying in Alicante NYE. Him and his family are coming to us in GA for Christmas lunch and now maybe Christmas eve too.

I usually head into Alicante on NYE as it's always a good party atmosphere.

Regards,

Mark.
