ipod

Postby john hannon » Sat Sep 26, 2009 5:41 pm

My old ipod packed in a few weeks ago....it wouldnt hold its charge any more.

I treated myself to a new one and its working fine apart from one issue.

I have a  Bose docking station and when I put my ipod in it this morning to charge up the ipod screen gave me the message "charging is not suported with this accessory"

It plays through the Bose OK.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

John

PS I left my USB/ipod lead in the UK!!

Morning John

new iPods and iPhones aren't chargeable by older speaker docks. The pin arrangements differ in some respects...it won't affect the music output but charging as you (and I) have found out won't work.

looks like a trip into Alicante for a charger lead for you :( or maybe the Chinese bazaars may have a solution. They seem to have everything else.

cheers

I thought this may be the case. I may give MediaMarkt a visit to buy a non ipod branded connector, it will be a darn site cheaper than the Apple store in Alicante.

You could get by with just the USB connector cable and then plug it in to your Mac or PC.

Laine says hi btw

cheers

Check that it will charge from the Mac or PC first. I have one of the latest Nano, and think that when I went to charge it that way, it didn't do it. It certainly does not charge on USB on the multi USB port on the desk! Strange since it is obviously capable of talking to the Mac...to download.
